Remodeling can be done for any room of your home. Surprisingly, bathroom updates are usually the most overlooked but most needed. Why? Price. There is a misconception that to “update” a bathroom, the old tile must be taken out, the tub has to be removed, a new vanity installed, etc. However, that is not always the case. Simple Considerations When Redesigning:

• Paint Color

Paint is the least expensive, most effective way to update one room or your entire home! The first thing you see and feel when entering a room is the color. Choosing the right color can affect your mood. It can give you more energy or take energy away. Color can create a sense of calmness or it can cause anxiety. There are many factors to consider when selecting colors that are best suited for each room. As a certified color consultant, Caty can help you with one room, one level, or your entire home. While all rooms do not need to be completed at once, we encourage planning the entire space simultaneously to ensure all rooms are coordinated and complement one another. • Cabinet Knobs/Pulls/Hardware

If you’re not ready to invest in a new vanity yet because that means you need a new countertop, which means you need a new sink, and so on. How about simply changing the drawer and cabinet knobs and pulls instead? Chances are the same hardware is on the vanity as the day it was built. Perhaps you’ve painted a few times; changed to a cool paint color (such as the big trend grey) where brushed nickel hardware would be a better option. Or maybe you chose a warmer color and prefer antique bronze instead. Creations by Caty will help you pull together timeless updates for all of these “little” things to make a big difference.

• Mirrors

If you’re like many homeowners, the mirror in your bathroom is the same mirror your neighbor has, your sister has, your friend has, and it is boring! When the home was built, upgrading the mirror was most likely the last thing on the list of priorities. That inexpensive mirror made sense at that time. Now it is outdated. Fortunately, an easy way to improve the look of your bathroom (and divert attention from the vanity you want to change) is to install a new mirror. Mirrors are inexpensive, they come in many shapes and sizes, and they look dramatically different than the old frameless mirrors many homeowners have in their bathrooms.

• FAUCETS

Trends change. From colors and finishes to styles and designs. Some faucets are timeless, others trendy and short-lived. You may be surprised how something as easy and inexpensive as replacing your outdated faucet can drastically update the overall appearance of your bathroom or kitchen. Faucets are necessary and can also be an added touch to tie together your hardware. In addition, if you decide on a more comprehensive remodel in the future, selecting a timelessly styled faucet now can coordinate with your future vanity, sink, flooring, backsplash, tub, or shower.

• Light Fixtures

Light fixtures do not need to be expensive to be beautiful. There are some great new styles available, and they immediately improve the look and feel of a room. If you change the size of the mirror, for example, the light fixture size needs to transition consistent with the mirror size. FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS

Adding a backsplash in the bathroom (or kitchen) is a fun way to add color and dimension to the room. It also protects the drywall and paints from being damaged. There are so many new tile patterns in various shapes and sizes. Tile is a great way to add character to a room, yet it’s also functional.
